West Houston Chinese Church (WHCC) is a non-denominational evangelical Christian church with 800+ members, holding services in English, Mandarin Chinese, and Cantonese. We are a growing congregation and seek staff who want to use their talents and skills to help build the kingdom of God.West Houston Chinese Church is seeking a Christ-follower to lead its children’s ministry, a person with a passion for God and a love for children. This ministry currently has more than 100 volunteers and works with 150 plus children each week.

This position is full-time and includes a competitive benefits package (health, dental, and term life insurance as well as a 403B retirement package). The position includes a continuing education budget and flexibility to pursue your studies.

Qualifications

  • Children’s ministry experience.
  • Fluent in English (Mandarin- Chinese is a plus, but not required).
  • A team player able to work in a multi-staff, multi-cultural environment.
  • Self-starting and able to provide leadership.
  • Administrative and organizational ability.
  • Demonstrates spiritual maturity and character.
  • Graduate level seminary degree or actively seeking seminary degree, preferred.

Job Description

  • Leadership
    Lead, minister and care for coordinators, teachers, and other Children Ministry volunteers.
  • Administration
    Work with Pastoral Staff Team to support overall church ministry needs.
  • Education
    Continue to study and grow in the area of children’s development (spiritual, mental and physical), remaining current on trends, teaching methods, materials, promotional ideas, administrative methods, and other children’s ministry techniques, and implement these as appropriate.
  • Church-related programs
    Provide support for any church-related children program, such as church retreats, area or small group retreats, and small groups and coordinate children’s programs for all church-wide events (prayer meetings, Conferences, Good Friday program, Christmas evening services, etc.)
  • Sunday School program
    Recruit, develop, and train teachers for the Sunday children’s program. Work with deacon and coordinators to develop classes and curriculum.
  • Family Ministry
    Work with the Family Pastor to develop and support a strong ministry to families, educating and working with parents to raise God-honoring children.
  • Caring Ministry
    Counsel, care for and visit children and families as needed.

  • Strong organizational/administrative skills.
  • Bilingual Chinese and English (verbal, writing, typing) preferred.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills are required for effective interface with all contacts at all levels within and outside the organization.
  • Must have a positive attitude of genuine caring for the congregation, staff and visitors at all times and poise under pressure
  • Maintain a servant’s heart and a cooperative team spirit with staff, volunteers and congregation
  • Computer training and experience in word processing, the internet and data systems, preferably MS Office and MS Publisher.
  • Willingness (teachable) to learn new technology and other skills
  • Regular church attendance is required (attendance at WHCC is preferred)

Job Description

  • Answer phone calls, e-mails and mail courteously.
  • Responsible for the preparation of church-wide communications, which includes but not limited to: weekly worship bulletins (electronic and paper), web page updates, and electronic and printed newsletters.
  • Organize and maintain church calendar.
  • Pick up, distributing and disseminating all mail and correspondence.
  • Maintain all church documents on all areas of church life, business, facilities and ministry, including the church database (TouchPoint) and its use.
  • Know schedules and whereabouts of all personnel and how to contact them in an emergency
  • Recruit, train, and coordinate the office volunteer staff to assist church ministries.
  • Prepare certificates for all church programs (confirmation, baptism, etc.).
  • Make posters, flyers, announcements, calendars, charts, schedules, etc.
  • Assign classrooms and church facilities for meetings and activities.
  • Ordering and maintenance of office supplies and equipment.
  • Coordinates special projects for the pastoral team as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Technology Manager

West Houston Chinese Church (WHCC) is searching for a part-time/full-time technology manager to be proactive in creating and maintaining an efficient and responsive IT environment to support WHCC’s vision work.

Qualifications

Required Skills:

● Knowledge of modern computer operating systems (Mac OS, Microsoft Windows 7/8/8.1/10, Server OS’s) and mobile platforms (iOS, Android)

● Knowledge in computer software & hardware maintenance

● Knowledge in IT helpdesk/desktop support

● Excellent verbal & written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non technical end users at all levels of the organization

● Self starting & coachable attitude with a willingness to grow, learn and adapt to changing technologies

● Attention to detail coupled with excellent organization skills

● Must be able to multitask and prioritize on a daily basis

● Good problemsolving skills required

● Ability to work well with others, as well as independently

● The ability to bend, squat, crawl or climb and lift technology hardware as needed

Desired Skills:

● Understanding and proficiency of IT Network technologies and processes

● Excellent working knowledge of uptodate desktop applications

● Knowledge/Experience with TouchPoint Church Management software

● Knowledge of Windows scripting, batch files and automation

● Knowledge in Audio Sound board, Visual Projection, basic video camera recording

● Creativity and advanced knowledge of media production, media software (Final Cut Pro, PhotoShop, InDesign, Illustrator, Premier Pro, iMovie, and GarageBand), and Microsoft

Job Description

● Provide primary Audio & Visual (A/V) support during special events for paid/unpaid special events at church (e.g. weddings, funerals, etc.); secondary/troubleshooter on Sundays; backup on an as needed basis

● Perform scheduled maintenance and updates to computers, peripherals and network equipment as needed to ensure all devices are in an efficient and functional state

● Create/Maintain inventory of all hardware and consumables used via asset database management

● Resolve ChMS (TouchPoint) related issues

● Remain up to date with industry innovations and use of technology in ministry and enhance technical, media, and professional skills

● Act as liaison between media ministry (Media Deacon) and church office
