Small Groups are the lifeblood of the Meta community, and serve a variety of purposes. Primarily, it is in small groups that we work through the nuts and bolts of our relationship with Jesus together. Centered around the communal study of the word of God, small groups provide the environment for spiritual friendship to occur, accountability to take place, and discipleship to deepen. Small Groups provide a safe place for people who do not yet consider themselves Christians to explore the Christian faith and the person of Jesus, and for those who have been following Jesus for years to deepen their walk and experience the warm glow of fellowship.
Small Groups are the primary vehicle in our church both for discipleship and evangelism. Our vision is for small groups to be a place where we love one another as Jesus loved us, and for people to know that we are His disciples by our love for one another. We pursue this vision through song and praise, Bible Study, sharing, confession, and prayer, and friendship that goes far beyond the weekly small group meeting.
Some small groups meet weekly, others biweekly. Some meet in homes, while a few meet at church. The groups are very loosely organized according to life situation – we have family groups, empty-nester groups, groups for singles, and same-sex and co-ed groups dispersed throughout the west side of Houston.
We have small groups for adults of all ages.
