West Houston Chinese Church (WHCC) is a non-denominational evangelical Christian church with 800+ members, holding services in English, Mandarin Chinese, and Cantonese. We are a growing congregation and seek staff who want to use their talents and skills to help build the kingdom of God.

This position is full-time and includes a competitive benefits package (health, dental, and term life insurance as well as a 403B retirement package). The position includes a continuing education budget and flexibility to pursue your studies.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3-5 years of children ministry experience required (preferably in a church setting)
  • Christian College or seminary degree preferred
  • Collaborative team player who can work with a multi-cultural staff and environment.
  • Self-starter who can independently lead an entire ministry, its staff, and volunteers.
  • Capable of handling multiple tasks at the same time with strong organizational, people, and communication skills
  • Agrees with WHCC statement of faith 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Leadership
  • Refine and cast children’s ministry vision to staff, teachers, and other ministries.
  • Disciple, train, and develop children’s ministry deacon, coordinators, and teachers.
  • Advocate for the children’s ministry to the Pastoral Staff Team.
  • Collaborate with other ministries to coordinate special program opportunities.
  • Update church council with children’s ministry events and decisions.
  • Remain current on trends, teaching methods, materials, promotional ideas, and other children’s ministry techniques.
  1. Sunday School Program
  • Oversee the development and implementation of classes and execute curriculum efficiently.
  • Recruit and retain teachers for the Sunday children’s program.
  • Study and understand the spiritual and developmental needs of children.
  • Plan teachers’ retreat, appreciation, and annual teacher training events.
  1. Children’s Special Programs 
  • Lead special children’s programs (Easter, Mother’s and Father’s Day performances, Infant dedication).
  • Coordinate and provide resources for all children’s programs for church-wide events (prayer meetings,Good Friday program, church retreats, missions conference, Christmas evening service, etc.)
  • Develop new children programs as needed within our church and the greater community. 
  1. Caring Ministry
  • Meet with children and families as needed to help provide care, support, or guidance.
  • Care for children’s ministry leaders and volunteer workers.
  • Send regular updates on the ministry and prayer requests to teachers and parents
  • Assist in educating adults about parenting and children issues.

    • Assist in family ministries in small group and church

New Hope Christian Church (NHCC), a church plant of West Houston Chinese Church (WHCC), is an evangelical, Bible-believing church. We meet every Sunday morning and hold Chinese and English services at 7575 Alden Bridge Dr. The Woodlands, TX 77382. Our Sunday attendance is on average 230 people, which includes a Chinese congregation (130 adults,) an English Congregation (50 adults with youth), and 50+ children. We are looking for a spiritually mature Chinese pastor with leadership gifts to meet our growing ministry needs.

  • Must be a born-again Christian
  • College degree or training in a technical field
  • 5+ years facilities management preferred
  • Computer skills and familiarity with spreadsheets and database software a must
  • Experience working (volunteer or staff) in a church
  • Teamwork, teachable and open attitude
  • Bilingual Chinese and English preferred, must be fluent in English (verbal and written)
  • Effective communication skills, both verbally and in writing
  • Personal integrity and self-motivation in the fulfillment of ministry.
  • Maintain a servant’s heart and a cooperative team spirit with staff, volunteers and congregation
  • Willingness (teachable) to learn new technology and other skills
  • Regular church attendance is required (attendance at WHCC is preferred)

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Maintain the facilities of the church, including building, grounds, equipment, furniture, and fixtures.

  • Ensure facilities are ready to support all areas of ministry, administration and outside use.

  • Ensure facilities are used appropriately and according to established policies.

  • Maintain a safe and secure environment, including maintaining and training of the camera and the alarm monitoring systems, and maintaining a key roster and providing keys to workers.

  • Recruit volunteers for areas that require such involvement.

  • Purchase of maintenance supplies.

  • Oversee and facilitate equipment and room setup for church functions.

  • Manage church vehicle fleet, i.e. maintaining, cleaning and preparing the church vans for various ministries.

  • Develop budgets in consultation with the Executive Pastor and Facilities and Reserve Management (FARM) Committee, which include projected operating costs, remodeling, repair, maintenance and other related building costs for annual, intermediate and long-term funding needs of the FARM Committee.

  • Oversee any projects relating to the facilities, such as remodeling work.

  • Supervise and manage the facilities team.

  • Maintain and update church facilities and asset inventory database

  • Develop and maintain a vendor list of qualified consultants/contractors to carry out various repair and maintenance projects of church when needed.

  • Other duties as assigned.
